Shrimp is not only nutritious, but it is also one of the most convenient types of seafood there are. You can buy it in bulk, frozen, and have it for whenever inspiration -or hunger- strikes. And, in many cultures, shrimp is used as a libido-enhancer.

That said, your mind probably draws a blank when thinking of recipes that go along with shrimp. It's okay: Shrimp is really not as popular as a main dish as other types of seafood, and as such we usually need to do a little reading before cooking.

Here's three recipes that'll take your shrimp game to the next level:

Keto Popcorn Shrimp

Ingredients:

  • 1lb shrimp
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup coconut flour or almond flour
  • ½ unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbsp cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup oil of choice

How to make:

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • In a bowl, mix all the dry ingredients.
  • Mix the wet ingredients in a separate bowl.
  • Clean and wash the shrimp; don’t remove the tail.
  • Holding the shrimp by its tail, dredge in the wet mixture then coat with flour. Shake off any mixture excess, but make sure it has a thick coating.
  • Fry the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce!

Garlic Butter Shrimp

Ingredients:

  • 1lb shrimp
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ cup chicken stock
  • Parsley
  • Butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

How to make:

  • Peel and devein the shrimp
  • Heat a skillet to medium heat with two tablespoons of butter.
  • Add the shrimp and cook with salt and pepper for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, so it won’t burn. Don’t overcook. Remove from the skillet when cooked through. Set aside.
  • Add the garlic; cook until fragrant. Add the chicken stock and combine.
  • Reduce the stock by half, then add more butter and the lemon juice. Once the butter has melted, add the shrimp to the skillet again.
  • Remove from heat and sprinkle some parsley.
  • Serve.
