Ah, the classic burguer. There is little more satisfying at the end of a long, tiring day than munching on a good burguer - the greasier the better.

But sometimes it can seem a little hard to make a good burguer when you're sticking to a Keto diet - particularly because of the buns, which are carb bombs.

Here's two recipes for you - one for the perfect burguer, and one for you to make your own keto burguer buns.

Stove Top Burger

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsb black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

How to make:

  • Preheat a pan to medium-high heat.
  • Add all the ingredients to a large bowl. Mix using your hands or a wooden spoon, but don’t overwork the meat, or it will make it tough.
  • Shape into patties and make a slight depression in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up when cooking.
  • Cook until browned, flipping a few times for even cooking.

Burger Buns (Low-Carb)

Ingredients:

  • 130 g coconut flour
  • 60 g almond meal
  • 18 g psyllium husk
  • 2 tsp of baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 ¾ water

How to make:

  • Preheat oven to 400 ºF.
  • Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper; we’ll need it later.
  • Put together all the dry ingredients in a large bowl and mix. For better results, weight your ingredients before using.
  • Add in the olive oil, water and apple cider vinegar
  • Incorporate well using a fork or spatula. The dough will be moist, but should get more manageable as you go.
  • Form a ball and let it rest for about 10 minutes. Resting the dough will result in an elastic dough, which is what we need.
  • Knead the dough and divide into 4 to 6 pieces, depending on how large you want your buns to be and roll them into balls.
  • Place them on the baking sheet, leaving some space between each bun. Flatten each ball slightly to give them a nice burger shape.
  • Brush the top of each bun with water and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake for 25 minutes, until the top is golden and crispy.
  • Cool the burger buns on a cooling rack before you slice them in half.
  • As an extra tip, you can add a slice of cheddar cheese to each bun, and bring them back to the oven until the cheese is melted.
  • Add the toppings you like and enjoy your delicious homemade burgers!
